Actually most of the knitters have joined Ravelry - a knit and crochet community,
which has better features in keeping track the crafts project.
You should be able to find the local knitters (here I mean Singapore and Malaysia knitters)
there easily and join the local meetup too.

For Malaysia Knitters, you could join Knit-MY,
especially if you are in KL and would like to have a meet with other KL knitters.
For Singapore Knitters, you could contact Lois at Get It Knitted.
She has been organising the "Knit Out" (knitting meet up) and "Yarn Spree" for the forum members in the past.
You could get her in Ravelry too.
